Environmental Engineer, Systems Engineer
This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Engineering & Construction Division (ECD), under the Director of Engineering and Architecture Division (EAD). The incumbent will be responsible for master planning, requirements gathering, project development, scoping, estimating, and managing project.
Individual Occupational RequirementEducation: I have an Engineering degree from a program that: (1) leads to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET); or (2) includes differential and integral calculus and courses more advanced than first‑year physics and chemistry in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;
(b) strength of materials (stress‑strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience: I have a combination of college‑level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background was obtained by the following:
Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering‑type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to accomplish and execute the task related to this position at the GS‑14 level.
Specialized experience is deemed as:
- Engineering and facilities project/program management.
- Supervisory and managerial responsibilities.
- Senior technical advisory duties, including COR/IPT leadership and executive‑level advising.
