The RoleSenior Civil Engineering Manager
The Civil Engineering Manager – Renewable Energy will be based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters or remote in the Mid‑Atlantic region. In this role you will be a part of the civil engineering department responsible for overseeing third‑party consultants and providing in‑house support on civil engineering aspects of the project for project development, M&A, and construction of utility solar array projects.
The ideal candidate will have expertise on land development in the Mid‑Atlantic region and be able to manage the third‑party consultant and lead the group of civil engineers.
- Manage all phases of site‑civil engineering projects, from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Lead all design aspects, including layout, grading, earthwork, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control.
- Ensure designs meet Energix standards, federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
- Request proposals from the third‑party engineering and geotechnical consultants, analyze proposals, and handle contracting.
- Lead project teams, coordinating with internal staff, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to meet project objectives.
- Oversee project documentation, including contracts and permits.
- Monitor project progress, addressing challenges to maintain timelines and budgets.
- Develop and manage project schedules, proactively resolving delays or obstacles.
- Participate in local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications and permit requirements through as‑built drawings.
- Participate in the early stages to advance level development of the projects to provide engineering support.
- Review geotechnical reports from third‑party consultants to identify potential geotechnical risks of the project.
- Conduct site visits with the internal team and consultants to identify site development, construction risk, and find solutions with designs.
- Manage efforts to problem‑solve engineering challenges and coordinate with project consultants and site managers.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- P.E. license.
- Minimum five years of experience in civil engineering specializing in stormwater design.
- Land development experience in VA, PA, and OH states is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD or similar software.
- Experience in civil engineering codes and standards.
- Ability to analyze financial impacts of engineering requirements and challenges.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Team player with strong initiative.
- Preferred experience in Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Ohio areas.
