The Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) of Serco North America is seeking a motivated and experienced Marine Engineer to join our team working in our Arlington, VA location. MEO supports the US Navy and other commercial maritime customers on a variety of programs and is involved in all stages of ship and ship system design.
As a Marine Engineer, you will receive technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff and apply your marine engineering experience to perform analyses and prepare engineering deliverables in support of the design of ships, craft, and other floating structures. In this position you will:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- A Bachelors degree from and ABET accredited university in Marine Engineering or a related engineering field such as Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc..
- 5 years of related and progressive experience in the Marine Engineering field.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of marine craft.
- Knowledge of government or other contracting environments relating to technical, scientific, and analytical services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies and tools as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Experience with AUTOCAD.
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Inventor, Solidworks, Navisworks, or Ship Constructor.
- Experience with PIPE-FLO, PIPE-FLOW, or Fathom.
- Experience with ABS/USCG rules and regulations.
- Experience with design, build, and test projects.
