This role will take a lead role in the management of sub‑advised proprietary fixed‑income funds and oversee investment of certain permanent‑income funds/portfolios and external asset managers. You will work with the VP of Fixed Income and other senior investment personnel to develop and implement fixed‑income strategy and stable‑value products. Additional responsibilities include project planning and liaison with other groups, internal and external parties.
Note:
This is not a portfolio manager role.
- Extensive investment experience (7‑10 years) with emphasis on fixed‑income portfolio analysis, investment and economic trends, broad knowledge of fixed‑income securities and stable‑value investments.
- CFA certification is strongly preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Investment management experience with manager‑of‑managers, sub‑advisory relationship, or manager evaluation is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the investment industry and its applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team across departments.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to provide effective presentations to internal and external groups, including boards.
- Management of sub‑advised proprietary fixed‑income/stable funds and oversight of fixed‑income funds/portfolios and external managers.
- Perform due diligence (qualitative and quantitative) on funds, portfolios, and asset managers.
- Manage the due diligence process and relationships with asset managers.
- Manage investment guideline processes (negotiation, implementation, adherence) for funds, portfolios, and managers.
- Support other Fund Managers through a team approach for continuity of daily fund operations.
- Stay updated on financial markets, economics, fixed‑income securities, mutual/commingled funds, and stable‑value industries.
- Manage implementation of new funds, hiring and termination processes for asset managers.
- Develop relationships with backup and prospective asset managers.
- Research, review, write, and present routine and ad‑hoc reports on funds, portfolios, and asset managers for internal groups, committee meetings, board reports, fund prospectuses, regulation filings, clients, and consultants.
- Work with the MVP, Fixed Income, and senior investment personnel to develop and implement fixed‑income/stable‑value strategies.
- Conduct research to support optimal portfolio structure, asset managers, and allocation.
- Develop, establish, and implement appropriate investment policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes, coordinating with asset managers, issuers, external parties, and internal groups.
- Analyze stable‑value contractual terms and work with counsel on contracts; assist MVP, Fixed Income in negotiating terms with issuers.
- Assist in building relationships with current and prospective issuers, stable‑value managers, and consultants.
- Assist in developing new stable‑value products.
- Lead special investment studies and projects.
- Manage relationships with outside vendors.
- Work closely with the MVP, Fixed Income to develop analysts in the Fixed Income Group.
