Location: Arlington, VA (On-Site)
Compensation: $135,000–$140,000 + Benefits
Our client, a growing organization within the renewable energy industry, is seeking a hands‑on Senior Accounts Payable Manager to lead and optimize a high‑volume Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense function.
This leadership role will oversee the full AP lifecycle, manage a team of AP professionals, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvements within a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong operational accounting experience, ERP systems expertise, and the ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives while maintaining exceptional vendor and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop Accounts Payable and T&E staff
- Oversee full‑cycle AP operations including invoice processing, expense reports, and payment runs
- Manage weekly cash disbursements in partnership with Treasury
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and company policies
- Oversee monthly AP close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Analyze AP activity, identify trends/variances, and improve reporting accuracy
- Partner with Procurement, Treasury, Accounting, and Project Teams to resolve issues and improve workflows
- Manage vendor escalations and strengthen vendor relationships
- Support annual 1099 reporting and audit readiness
- Drive automation initiatives and process improvements within AP operations
- Collaborate with ERP support teams on system enhancements and issue resolution
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of Accounts Payable experience, including leadership responsibility
- Experience managing AP operations in a high‑volume environment
- Oracle or JD Edwards strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Renewable energy, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or project‑based industry experience highly preferred
- Experience helping scale AP operations within a growing organization
