The Clean Energy Tax Senior of Reporting and Analytics role brings together US federal and state compliance and tax planning analytics for AES’s clean energy development and operational businesses. The position involves managing and reviewing US federal and state income tax compliance, supporting tax planning and business transactions, and applying technical tax concepts to optimize financial outcomes.
Primary Position Responsibilities- Prepare and review Clean Energy US federal and state tax compliance processes, provide quarterly investor information, and prepare other information in accordance with ASC
740. - Assist with technical research and quantitative analysis for business and tax planning projects to optimize financial and cash taxes on existing and prospective company investments.
- Support the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process, state and local clean‑energy grants and incentives, disallowed business interest, valuation allowance, outside basis, and uncertain tax positions.
- Support transaction review and documentation processes, including federal, state, and local tax areas and review of financial models.
- Supervise and support development of one direct report and mentor more junior talent across the US Business Tax Team.
- A driven curiosity to learn and apply rapidly evolving and complex tax technical concepts with a business‑first mindset.
- Strong partnership tax technical (or desire to learn) and compliance expertise, and interest in supporting M&A and renewable investment transactions; state tax exposure a plus.
- Experience maintaining partner tax capital accounts, taxable income, outside tax basis, and adjustments such as section 704(c) and section 743.
- Exceptional communication skills; able to articulate complex tax issues to management and non‑tax audiences with minimal preparation.
- Exceptional self and project management skills with the ability to manage evolving priorities and willingness to step into a doer role when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax;
Master’s degree or CPA preferred. - 2+ years of experience working on complex tax issues with a national accounting firm or a multi‑national corporate tax department.
The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $105,000 and $131,325 per year; base pay may vary based on factors such as location and experience. The total compensation package also includes an annual bonus.
