Our Manager of State Income Tax will be responsible for completing tax assignments, developing team members, identifying process efficiencies, and driving change. The following outlines the primary responsibilities, along with special projects and stretch assignments that may arise from business needs or tax law updates:
- Perform daily state and local tax research on evolving tax rules, special projects, and studies.
- Schedule and conduct state income tax audits for the corporation’s state tax returns.
- Review and participate in the preparation and filing of the corporation’s state income tax filings.
- Perform calculations of current and deferred state income tax provisions and forecasts.
- Manage and supply data for forward pricing and incurred cost audits.
- Actively pursue state refund opportunities.
- Assist with review of federal and state tax packets.
- Develop and train staff members.
- 8 years of tax practice experience in public accounting or a large corporate tax department.
- Experience with ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
- Experience calculating state income tax provisions and forecasts for a large corporation.
- State audit experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply varied state income tax rules.
- Effective research skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with peers, customers, and managers.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership imperatives.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Continuous learning and process improvement mindset, with a willingness to teach others.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure and to work effectively both as part of a team and independently with little guidance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- CPA and/or Master’s degree in taxation, accounting, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a public accounting firm or a large company tax department.
- 4+ years of experience leading teams.
- Experience with AI, Alteryx, dashboards, and/or digital transformations initiatives.
- Proficient with Thomson Reuters One Source, Oracle, and Corptax.

Part-time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay RateThe annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $106,100 - $187,105. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
