Assistant Chief of Information - Community Outreach

As the Assistant Chief of Information (ACI) for Community Outreach, you will report directly to the Chief of Information and support the Secretary of the Navy and Chief of Naval Operations.

• Oversee all Navy Community Outreach and Directorate activities.
• Manage external public affairs programs.
• Ensure the department’s policy is carried out effectively.
• Conceptualize, update, plan and execute the Navy’s Annual Community Outreach Plan.
• Serve as the senior advisor to CHINFO and all other Navy commands on filmmakers requesting production and research assistance.
• Inform DoD of entertainment media projects involving the Navy and other federal agencies.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
• Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time‑in‑grade requirement).
• Appointment of retired military members within 180 days following retirement is subject to 5 U.S.C. § 3326.
• Males born after 12‑31‑59 must register for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal or removal of a job offer.
• Supervisors in the executive branch must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR .
• This position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS and remote or isolated sites; you must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.

• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑14 grade level, or equivalent private or public sector experience.
• Experience and knowledge of public affairs policies and regulations related to community relations and outreach.
• Experience and skills in communication principles, methods, practices and techniques; analytical methods and interpersonal relations practices.
• Experience and knowledge for recommending strategies and establishing standards for development, evaluation and assessment of all Community Outreach Programs.
