About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Sex Offender Investigative Unit Compliance Officer (SOIU) in Region 2 covering Arlington, Alexandria and Loudoun. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
* Supporting statewide public safety initiatives by conducting field-based sex offender verifications and ensuring timely, accurate updates to the Virginia Sex Offender Management System (VSOMS).
* Ensuring compliance with the Code of Virginia through home, work, and school verifications, SP-236 filings, photo updates and documentation for court and investigative use.
* Collaborating with Troopers, probation and parole officers, courts, law enforcement agencies, and community partners to advance the mission of the Firearms and Sex Offender Investigative Unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
* Court proceedings.
* Case management.
* The probation and parole process.
Skill in:
* Operating a computer to include Microsoft software applications.
* Data entry.
Ability to:
* Operate a motor vehicle.
* Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
* Make decisions independently by applying policies, rules, and regulations.
* Work independently, follow instructions, and pay close attention to details.
* Identify and respond to safety risks in unpredictable environments.
* Manage evolving workloads and prioritize deadlines.
* Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
* Build professional rapport with offenders, Troopers, supervisors, and external partners.
* Possession of a valid Virginia Operator's License.
* Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Compliance Officers assigned to the Firearms and Sex Offender Investigative Unit (FSOIU) shall be assigned to a specific region. Compliance Officers shall reside within 45 minutes from any border of their assigned county or city.
Additional Considerations
* Experience or training in law enforcement operational procedures and verbal de-escalation techniques preferred.
