Position Overview

We are seeking a Congressional Affairs Analyst to support the customer’s Secretary of the General Staff (SGS) with congressional correspondence, legislative tracking, and staff-action tasking. This role drafts responses to Congressional Requests for Information, tracks legislation and hearings, and ensures outgoing correspondence meets regulatory and formatting standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong research and writing skills along with the ability to synthesize complex legislative and regulatory information for senior leadership review.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Enter and track taskers in the Electronic Tasking System (ETS) and Task Management Tool (TMT) received via the Correspondence and Management Tasking System (CATMS) and HQDA ETS; determine OPR, staffing requirements, and suspense dates.
  • Draft and recommend responses to Congressional Requests for Information (RFIs), Report Requirements, and letters from Members of Congress; distribute RFIs to the appropriate Directorate and set suspense dates for leadership review.
  • Support Congressional Hearings and leadership engagements by preparing draft and final materials for Director/Deputy Director, Army National Guard testimony and correspondence.
  • Track, compile, and summarize Congressional legislation, hearings, and audits (Army Audit Agency, DoD Inspector General, GAO) to inform senior leader decisions.
  • Review and edit outgoing correspondence for compliance with NGB, HQDA, and ARNG format, grammar, content, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide procedural guidance on staffing actions and facilitate weekly Workflow Manager synchronization meetings.
  • Consolidate and review weekly situation reports, task trackers, and key working initiatives for distribution to division Action Officers.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in congressional correspondence, legislative tracking, or staff-action/correspondence management in a DoD or federal environment.
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, well-formatted responses under deadline pressure.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Congressional correspondence or legislative tracking experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with AR 25-50/ARNG Memorandum 25-52 correspondence standards a plus.
  • Must have active SECRET clearance.
