Accession Technician; Evening Shift

Overview

Position: Accession Technician (Evening Shift)

Responsible for correct and prompt accessioning of all clinical specimens. This role also involves answering phones, printing reports, specimen registration through the HIS computer, and limited billing or crediting of accounts. The incumbent must accurately take physicians’ orders over the phone and relay results verbally. The position includes coverage responsibilities for the Venipuncture Team and the Outpatient Laboratory Department as needed.

• Accession all clinical specimens accurately and promptly.
• Answer phones, print reports, and register specimens through the HIS system.
• Handle limited billing or crediting of accounts as applicable.
• Accurately take physicians’ orders over the phone and communicate results.
• Provide coverage for the Venipuncture Team and the Outpatient Laboratory Department when required.

• Education: High school diploma is preferred.
• Experience: One year of experience in health/medical – phlebotomy.
• Certification/Licensure: None.
