Doorways began in 1978 when a group of concerned community members saw there was no safe place in Arlington for families in crisis. Program

Summary:

Doorways’ Revive Counseling Program team supports child, adolescent, and adult survivors seeking services due to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and/or stalking. Through Revive, Doorways offers trauma-informed, person-centered, short-term therapy to support survivors in their healing process.

Position Summary:

The Therapist will join an in-house team of mental health professionals offering individual and group counseling services to survivors of interpersonal violence in the Arlington County community. This position will offer the opportunity to serve clients of various ages who are seeking services due to experiencing or witnessing intimate partner violence, sexual assault, dating violence and/or stalking. The Revive Therapist engages fully with clients to assist them in the development and implementation of safety planning and treatment planning and supports them in identifying and moving through the stages of change.

Assessments, services, and interventions are comprehensive, trauma-informed, short term, and tailored to a culturally and linguistically diverse population. Where needed, this position collaborates closely with other providers and community programs to connect and refer clients to additional services (such as legal assistance, medical care, and treatment for serious behavioral health and substance abuse concerns).

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and requires flexibility in work hours, including at least two evenings per week. This position is included in Doorways’ on-call clinical response team, which will require 24/7 availability on a rotating schedule. The therapist must have the ability to conduct services in a variety of settings including in Revive’s outpatient counseling office, on secure telehealth platforms, and in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Service Delivery:

• Deliver trauma-informed, individual psychotherapy and group counseling to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and stalking, as well as to survivors’ family members, friends or other individuals who have experienced vicarious traumatization.
• Maintain a caseload of 20-25 active clients, or otherwise as approved by the Senior Director, Community-Based Services.
