JOB SUMMARY
The Nutrition Performance Specialist supports the Herbert R. Temple Readiness Center (TARC) Performance Nutrition Program under the Building Services III contract. The position develops and delivers practical, evidence-based nutrition education, counseling, and resources that help Soldiers and other TARC personnel improve physical performance, body composition, injury recovery, cognitive function, and sleep. The specialist conducts nutrition assessments, develops individualized meal and dietetic plans, collaborates with the HPT, mentors unit Health to Fitness Integrators (H2F-Is), and maintains accurate medical documentation in accordance with applicable privacy and records-management requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develops, adapts, and implements command-specific Performance Nutrition Program policies and educational curricula.
- Creates practical, evidence-based nutrition resources for TARC personnel, including fact sheets, field-training fueling strategies, meal-planning guides, and Go For Green® materials.
- Collaborates with the HPT to integrate nutrition strategies supporting physical performance, injury recovery, cognitive function, and sleep optimization.
- Provides mentorship, advanced training, and ongoing support to unit Health to Fitness Integrators (H2F-Is) delivering foundational performance nutrition education.
- Conducts individual and group performance nutrition counseling, including dedicated education for Soldiers enrolled in the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP).
- Supports sustainable lifestyle changes that promote healthy weight management, improved body composition, and enhanced readiness for training and missions.
- Performs nutrition assessments and develops meal plans and dietetic plans based on individual needs and established guidelines.
- Uses evidence-based tools to calculate nutrient requirements and identify dietary restrictions and potential food-drug interactions.
- Interprets and documents nutritional needs, evaluates patterns and relationships in assessment data, and identifies root causes of nutrition-related problems.
- Guides individuals in food selection, preparation, and menu planning based on nutritional needs and approved guidelines.
- Provides individual counseling and group education on pre-, intra-, and post-activity fueling, including guidance for competitions and extended field operations.
- Records nutritional requirements, progress, education, and follow‑up information in medical records and supports routine record maintenance in accordance with Army Regulation 25-50, the Privacy Act, and TARC policies.
- Current, unrestricted state license or certification as a Dietitian or Nutritionist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active Secret Clearance
- Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- Credentialing by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential is highly preferred.
