Overview

Your Position With TNC The UX Designer executes end-to-end UX design processes to ensure the user experience through TNC’s marketing properties are engaging, accessible and easy to use. They conduct research, strategize user-centered designs, and support efforts around implementation and testing. They will bridge strategy and design and always think holistically to keep user experience top of mind.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions The UX Designer supports the ongoing optimization strategies across The Nature Conservancy’s digital marketing and communication properties. They act as a member of the Marketing Technology team to deliver web system projects and help and mitigate risks of TNC’s growing digital universe. This includes TNC’s flagship websites, nature.org and conservationgateway.org; fundraising platforms; email; and other digital marketing products. They conduct user research and testing, map user flows and journey, optimize website features, gather business and user requirements, prototype wireframes, report bug issues, and validate releases to ensure the user experience is a smooth and intuitive interaction.

They are responsible for implementing ongoing efforts to ensure TNC’s digital properties meet web accessibility standards, brand experience, and functional usability. They also support the efforts of architecting the back-end authoring experience of components used on nature.org.

They provide resources and learnings to other marketers in various forms of trainings to scale insights around best UX practices. Travel is required for business meetings and/or team retreats.

Responsibilities & Scope
  • Execute end-to-end UX design process including research, design, testing and implementation.
  • Support user experience (UX) activities to explore and serve user needs, including creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups and assets for user research and testing
  • Support user and usability testing amongst TNC’s core audience to garner feedback that will lead to further optimizations.
  • Support the expansion, maintenance, and refinement of TNC’s web component library for its digital systems.
  • Draft user stories and requirements for new website features and components.
  • Report or log enhancement updates for website components that will optimize for accessibility and usability.
  • Support web production quality assurance upon web deployment releases, ensuring builds function and look as expected.
  • Opportunity to cross collaborate with different teams and departments, as well as working independently on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Document and share UX updates and best practices from studies/findings to marketing colleagues as an effort to scale UX learnings.
  • Continuously enhance design skills, knowledge of digital design trends, and remain current with technological advancements within the creative industry.
  • Travel occasionally for training or retreats.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in design-related discipline is a plus:
    Human-Computer Interaction;
    Communications Design;
    Information Technology;
    Design Planning;
    Graphic Design; or equivalent.
  • Has a portfolio demonstrating UX design and/or research process.
  • Proficient knowledge of design tools including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other related software.
  • Strong user experience design background with a focus around web design.
  • Experience in designing user flows and wireframes.
  • Experience in user research and testing.
  • Knowledgeable about designing for responsive states, especially optimizing for mobile.
  • Familiar with Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).
  • Experience reviewing quantitative data from tools like Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics to help identify or prioritize items in need of optimization
