Description & RequirementsElder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented AI/ML Engineer. The mid-level AI/ML Engineer will assist in the design, deployment, and operation of production-grade AI systems that support the customer's Sentinel model—helping protect more consumers, faster, from a wider range of hazards by using analytics to reduce time to intervention. This role involves end-to-end model lifecycle engineering on Azure, applying advanced MLOps best practices, and building AI agents (using Copilot Studio and Python frameworks) that convert signals into timely, actionable decisions.
Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:
- Build, Deploy & Maintain ML Models
- Implement, product ionize, and optimize ML solutions (supervised/unsupervised, NLP, deep learning) with robust data preprocessing, feature engineering, evaluation, and calibration pipelines to ensure reliability, fairness, and performance at scale.
- MLOps & Data Engineering (Azure)
- Establish end-to-end MLOps workflows including CI/CD, experiment tracking, model registry, reproducible builds, and deployments.
- Design high-quality data pipelines (ingest, transform, validate) across structured and unstructured sources, enforce data contracts/lineage, and collaborate with analytics teams to make datasets discoverable, documented, and performant.
- Implement model monitoring (drift, data/feature quality, bias, business KPIs), alerting, and automated rollback for safe, responsive systems.
- AI Agents & System Integration
- Build AI agents using Copilot Studio and Python frameworks to operationalize safety analytics, accelerating triage and decision-making.
- Integrate agents with APIs, event streams, dashboards, and case management systems to reduce time from signal to action.
- Engineering Excellence, Governance & Agile Delivery
- Champion secure-by-design practices, reproducibility, and auditability (model cards, data sheets, deployment records).
- Contribute to coding standards, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
- Work in Agile teams to drive iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and translate mission goals into technical roadmaps and measurable outcomes tied to Sentinel time‑to‑intervention targets.
- Experience &
Education:- 3+ years hands‑on developing and deploying AI/ML models in production environments.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming & ML Expertise:
- Proficient in Python, including packaging, testing, and performance optimization.
- Solid understanding of ML algorithms, model selection, training, validation, optimization, and evaluation at scale.
- Skilled in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and visualization to support decision‑making.
- Deep Learning, MLOps & Cloud:
- Experienced with PyTorch/Tensor Flow and modern MLOps practices, including deployment, monitoring, scaling, CI/CD, experiment tracking, and model registry.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure for AI/ML workloads (Azure ML, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake).
- AI Agents & Integration:
- Experience developing AI agents using Copilot Studio and Python frameworks, including tooling, orchestration, retrieval, and connectors.
- Experience with streaming and event‑driven architectures (Event Hubs), feature stores, and vector databases for retrieval‑augmented generation.
- Hands‑on with responsible AI practices (fairness, explainability, privacy), model governance (model cards, audits), and cloud ML security.
- Familiarity with domain‑specific risk analytics and working in public‑sector or regulated environments.
- Azure AI/ML and/or MLOps certifications considered advantageous.
- Current Public Trust Desired
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position
