5) for an exciting leadership opportunity within a Federal Department of War (DoW) agency. In this senior strategic role, you will drive transformative IT initiatives, enhance enterprise alignment, promote interoperability, and improve operational efficiency across complex mission environments. The Enterprise Architect serves as a senior strategic leader and trusted advisor within a Federal Department of War (DoW) agency, delivering expert consulting, guidance, and oversight in enterprise architecture, IT strategy, compliance, and risk management.
This position is instrumental in maturing the agency's enterprise architecture program, aligning IT capabilities with mission objectives, federal mandates (e.g., Clinger-Cohen Act, FITARA), DoW regulations, DoDAF/UAF standards, and leading industry best practices. The role leads the development, maintenance, and governance of architectural artifacts, roadmaps, and frameworks to support informed decision-making, capability portfolio management, and digital transformation. Job Responsibilities
* Designs and develops system architectures and defines key capabilities and performance requirements. Defines total systems design and technology maturity constraints in accordance with mission requirements. Develops system element architecture and design and interface definitions. Defines system implementation approach and operational concept. Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.
* Develops and maintains enterprise architecture roadmaps, target architectures, transition plans, and reference models that align IT capabilities with organizational strategies, mission priorities, and DoW objectives.
* Leads the creation, validation, maintenance, and governance of architectural artifacts and viewpoints using DoDAF and UAF standards to enable capability analysis, interoperability, reuse of data, and executive decision support.
* Conducts architectural analyses, including current-state assessments, gap/fit analyses, maturity evaluations, and risk assessments across business, data, application, technology, and security domains to identify opportunities and recommend improvements.
* Collaborates with senior stakeholders, program offices, CIO elements, and cross-functional teams to integrate enterprise architecture into strategic planning, investment prioritization, capital planning, and acquisition processes.
