About The Role:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Information System Security Engineer to be part of our Security team and based out of our Arlington, VA location. Experience in managing, maintaining, and securing Arlington critical virtual infrastructure, physical and Linux/Windows environment.

The ideal candidate has a deep technical background in virtualization/physical best practices, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to maintain highly available, secure, and performant systems.

• All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 5 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location.

• VMware Infrastructure Management:
  Design, install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
• Security & Compliance:
  Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, security, and performance; implement and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Demonstrate the ability to manage, execute, and maintain system compliance through STIG implementation, SCAP scanning, and ACAS/Nessus vulnerability management.
• Documentation:
  Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and infrastructure maps.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with other IT staff and business units to understand needs and implement solutions that meet organizational objectives.
• Window System Administration:
  Install, configure, secure, and maintain Windows operating systems (Windows 11) in both virtual and physical environments.
• Server Administration:
  Install, configure, secure, and maintain Server operating systems (Server 2022 and 2025) in both virtual and physical environments.
• Linux System Administration:
  Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Red Hat) in both virtual and physical environments.
• Automation & Scripting:
  Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, Power
  
  CLI, Ansible Playbook) to streamline routine administrative tasks, deployments, and reporting.
• Troubleshooting:
  Provide Tier 3/4 support to quickly diagnose and resolve complex system and virtual/physical system performance issues, system configuration problems, and outages.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or other STEM field (or equivalent full-time professional experience)
• 7+ years of full-time professional experience
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
• Familiarity with network management, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls
• Proficiency with backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Solid experience with Power Shell or Bash scripting for automation

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and collaboration with technical and non-technical staff
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and learning new technologies
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
