Description
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Managing Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Security as part of our Information Technology and Services (IT&S) team. The Managing Director is a leadership role responsible for shaping, executing, and overseeing the strategic vision and operational excellence of the company’s cloud infrastructure and security posture. This position ensures that cloud environments are highly available, scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives, while leading a team of cloud architects, engineers, and security professionals.
The Managing Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Security reports directly to the VP of Information Technology & Services and works closely with other IT leaders to achieve business goals.
This position is hybrid, with some domestic travel required as needed. This Managing Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Security will ideally be based in the DMV region, but we are open to other regions for the right candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overall strategy for cloud infrastructure and security, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Team Management: Build, lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of cloud infrastructure, Dev Ops, and security professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Cloud Architecture: Oversee the design, deployment, and management of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures across public, private, and hybrid environments.
- Security Oversight: Establish and enforce robust cloud security policies, procedures, and controls. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g. ISO, NIST, SOC, GDPR, HIPAA, etc).
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with cloud infrastructure and services. Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning and execution. Manage security audit, Pen Test, security awareness training, etc.
- Budget and Vendor Management: Manage cloud infrastructure budgets, vendor relationships, and service agreements to optimize cost and performance.
- Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to executives and stakeholders regarding cloud infrastructure and security matters. - Innovation and Transformation: Drive adoption of emerging technologies (including generative and agentic AI) and practices to enhance agility, security, and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep expertise with major cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, security frameworks, Dev Ops methodologies, and large cloud‑based applications (Salesforce, Auth0, OKTA, Oracle, Informatica, Copado, Git Hub CI/CD, etc.).
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, SOX) and security standards (including AI regulatory and security compliance).
- Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud transformation and security initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, CISM, CCSP).
