Product Designer, Product Engineer
Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship. We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview. Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck: a personal Better Up Coach, a development plan, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (with each member having their own Better Up Coach), and most importantly, work that matters.
This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience, and it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly it can be a game‑changing, career‑defining, soul‑lifting move.
You’ll own a meaningful product surface within one of Better Up’s core product areas—driving execution, building customer relationships, and shipping work that moves metrics. You’ll operate as a builder‑owner, turning the product direction set by your Product Lead into reality through hands‑on prototyping, direct customer engagement, and hypothesis‑driven execution. Ship with urgency, treat AI as your primary tool, and want ownership over outcomes, not just outputs.
WhatYou Own
- Translate the product area’s vision into concrete execution plans and own delivery against them. You carry a clear point of view on where your product surface is headed and can articulate it to any stakeholder.
- Spend significant time with customers—solution design sessions, product demos, and direct conversations with enterprise buyers and end‑users—to build relationships and shape what you build.
- Prototype working demos with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. Run hypothesis‑driven experiments; kill what isn’t working and redirect without drama.
- Decide and move with imperfect information. You don’t wait for alignment, permission, or consensus—listen, synthesize, decide, and act. When you’re wrong, you course‑correct fast. You never stall.
- Drive your cross‑functional squad—Engineering, Design, Data—toward outcomes. Set the agenda, maintain productive tension with engineering and design partners, and own the results.
- Connect your work to the broader product portfolio—leveraging shared platform capabilities and aligning with peer PMs to ensure your product surface enhances the overall platform value.
- Define and track success metrics for your product surface, ensuring the work delivers measurable business value. Communicate progress and surface risks early.
- 5+ years in product management or related roles, with demonstrated ownership of product outcomes—not just feature delivery.
- Experience contributing to product‑market fit—being close enough to understand why something isn’t landing and playing a meaningful role in changing course. You understand the difference between shipping and solving.
- Experience building products in B2B2C environments—selling to enterprise buyers while building for the end‑users those buyers serve.
- Direct customer exposure in enterprise contexts—being in the room with buyers and users, not only reading summaries. You know how to turn those conversations into product hypotheses.
- Domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields is a plus.
- Relentless agency. You have an internal locus of control—owning problems and fixing them rather than blaming external factors or waiting for someone else.
- Strong executive communication skills—you can tell the story of your product, bets, and learnings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Developing product vision and strategic thinking—you have a point of view on where your product surface should go and can defend it with evidence while staying open to updating it as you learn.
- Product taste—you instinctively recognize what good looks like in product experience and positioning.
- Strong customer‑centric product development skills—turning qualitative customer signals into testable hypotheses.
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration—you align Engineering, Design, and go‑to‑market partners…
