Knowledge Management Specialist | IT Functional SME (Jr.)

Hybrid position:
Expect 3 days onsite per week in Arlington, VA.
Position Summary:
The IT Functional SME (Jr) assists in analysis, development, implementation, and maintenance of functional IT solutions. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross‑functional teams to gather and document requirements, perform system testing, and provide operational support. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills are required, along with an understanding of business processes and technology systems. Preferred IT technical writing experience and familiarity with Knowledge Management systems and processes.
- Technical Documentation – collaborate with stakeholders to collect requirements and translate them into functional documentation, including user stories, use cases, and process flows.
- System Analysis and Design – analyze existing systems and business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and participate in design and development of functional IT solutions, ensuring technical feasibility.
- System Testing and Quality Assurance – develop test plans and cases, conduct functional, integration, and regression testing, identify and document defects, track resolution, and participate in defect triage.
- User Support and Training – provide user support, troubleshoot issues, assist in creation and delivery of training materials, and conduct training sessions for end‑users.
- Collaboration and Communication – work with analysts, developers, TA leads, and stakeholders; communicate progress, issues, and risks; actively contribute to meetings and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- 2 years of IT experience
- Associate’s degree or higher
- IAM I or higher (SEC+, CAP, CND, Cloud+, or equivalent)
- Strong technical writing background
- Familiarity with Knowledge Management systems
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud technologies
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Experience in system testing and quality assurance
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) principles
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive and self‑motivated with willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
