About the Role: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting‑edge cloud‑based integration, rapid prototype and full life cycle software development for complex, mission‑critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), seeks a Deployment Engineer for the Advanced Capabilities team based in Arlington, VA.

The role supports DoD programs by deploying and maintaining secure virtualized infrastructure and enterprise applications. It focuses on VMware environments, Linux system administration, and automated configuration using Ansible and Chef.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience managing Linux‑based systems, deploying applications into virtualized environments, and operating within DoD security and compliance frameworks.

• All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• This on‑site position requires five days in office at the Arlington, VA location.

• Deploy and manage VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
• Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in virtualized environments
• Install, configure, and support enterprise applications on Linux‑based systems
• Automate system configuration and application deployment using Ansible, Chef, Terraform, and Packer
• Build and maintain hardened Linux VM templates aligned with STIG requirements
• Perform system patching, upgrades, and package management on Linux systems
• Support application deployments across development, test, and production environments
• Troubleshoot Linux OS, infrastructure, and application deployment issues
• Work with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with RMF and DoD security standards
• Document deployment procedures, configurations, and support ATO‑related activities
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including program management, cybersecurity, software development, hardware engineering, logistics, and test organizations
• Support system certification, verification, and validation activities in accordance with DoD standards

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field (or equivalent relevant experience)
• 3+ years of relevant experience in deployment, systems, or infrastructure engineering
• Experience with Linux/Unix‑based environments and real‑time operating systems
• Strong experience with Linux system (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
• Experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) including auto‑deploy tools
• Experience deploying applications on Linux‑based virtual machines
• Hands‑on experience with Ansible, Chef, Terraform, or Packer
• Experience with Linux scripting (Bash) and/or Python
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, PXE booting)
• Ability to travel up to 25%

• Experience with Navy warfare systems and tactical applications
• Experience testing and deploying large‑scale or distributed DoD systems
• Experience supporting rapid prototyping, experimentation, integration, and capability demonstrations
• Experience with multi‑tier application deployments on Linux (web/app/database tiers)
• Experience with configuration management of large‑scale or distributed DoD systems
• VMware certification (e.g., VCP)
• Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE)

Pay range may vary: $90,000 – $150,000 or $114,000 – $184,000, depending on experience, skills, and education. This is an estimate and does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits.
