Position: Principal ProServe Cloud Architect, Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) , AWSI Sales

Overview

The Amazon Web Services Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) Professional Services (Pro Serve) team is seeking an experienced Clinical Pro Serve Cloud Architect (PCA) to join our team in Europe. In this role you will work directly with pharmaceutical and life sciences customers, including senior technology and business leaders, to understand their business objectives and translate them into innovative cloud and AI solutions that drive meaningful impact in pharmaceutical innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with pharmaceutical customers to design agentic AI applications across the complete clinical trial lifecycle – from study design and protocol development through site activation, patient recruitment, monitoring, data management, statistical analysis and regulatory submission – with expertise in CDISC standards, EDC, CTMS, and end‑to‑end clinical operations transformation.
  • Design scalable, secure AWS solutions that deliver measurable customer business outcomes across the clinical development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance during sales and implementation phases, focusing on pharmaceutical domain challenges such as clinical data management, regulatory submissions (eCTD), study conduct optimisation and GxP compliance.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives and delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Share knowledge within the organization through mentoring, training and creating reusable artifacts.
Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of cloud architecture and solution implementation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math or a related field.
  • Experience managing large‑scale enterprise IT projects for pharmaceutical companies across all clinical trial phases, including study design systems, clinical platforms (CTMS, EDC, eTMF, RTSM/IRT), data management workflows, statistical programming environments (SAS, R, Python), regulatory submission systems and compliance requirements (GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ICH‑GCP, HIPAA, GDPR, SOX).
  • Experience identifying customer challenges across the clinical trial lifecycle, positioning Professional Services solutions addressing end‑to‑end clinical transformation, collaborating with account teams on compelling proposals for multi‑phase clinical modernization engagements, and driving revenue growth through consultative selling of cloud architecture and agentic AI professional services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect or equivalent) or a higher degree.
  • Knowledge of AWS services including compute, storage, networking, security, databases, machine learning and serverless technologies.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards including HIPAA and GDPR.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences in pre‑sales environments.
  • Experience architecting enterprise‑scale clinical data platforms with multi‑agent orchestration frameworks spanning study design optimisation, protocol feasibility, automated site selection, patient matching, real‑time monitoring, safety surveillance, statistical programming and regulatory submission preparation – demonstrating expertise in clinical data integration patterns, cloud‑native data lake/lakehouse architectures, and the ability to articulate how agentic AI transforms end‑to‑end clinical operations.
  • Experience with executive‑level relationships with pharmaceutical technology leaders, translating complex end‑to‑end clinical transformation architectures into business value propositions and strategic roadmaps that align cloud modernization with comprehensive clinical development transformation from study design through regulatory submission.
  • Experience in Clinical Pharmacovigilance (CH‑GCP, GVP, local regulations such as FDA, EMA or MHRA) and ability to architect end‑to‑end automated PV workflows.
