Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring a Product Specialist in several locations:
Arlington, VA;
El Segundo, CA;
Long Beach, CA;
Saint Louis, MO; or Tukwila, WA. The role is distributed across these offices.

We are a product‑led analytics and AI group within BDS, transforming how data is sourced, designed, and utilized to build and scale analytics and AI products. The Product Specialist will guide products from conception to shipment by connecting the technical and business worlds, breaking down complex problems into actionable steps, and driving product development at scale and speed.

In this role you will work cross‑functionally with business leaders, internal customers, software developers, data scientists, designers, and data engineers to design and develop analytics and AI technologies that solve business problems. You will manage product vision, positioning, packaging, promotion, and tailoring to users, ensuring delivery of high‑value products that significantly impact business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Define product vision, manage stakeholder relations, and collaborate with users and delivery teams.
  • Maintain the menu of product offerings, create and maintain product roadmaps and prioritized backlogs.
  • Provide context and clarity for the product team to deliver against roadmaps.
  • Inform product decisions with empirical performance and desirability evidence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and articulate emerging opportunities, mature business cases, and scope to connect with the appropriate analytics product menu.
  • Plan sprints and prioritize backlogs using Agile methodologies, leveraging Scrum practices to accelerate delivery and ensure iterative value creation.
  • Communicate strategy and consistent product messaging to stakeholders and users.
  • Understand opportunities, competition, and user requirements in depth.
  • Launch new products and features, test performance, and iterate quickly.
  • Work collaboratively with software development, data science, legal, compliance, UX, and other teams on cutting‑edge technologies.
  • Develop innovative solutions to problems by collaborating across regions, product areas, and functions.
  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into requirements focused on business value outcomes.
  • Work well with internal teams, including developers, engineers, architects, QA, and operations.
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans meet or exceed expectations.
  • Research and follow technical trends in technology and aviation.
  • Participate in the annual planning process, providing resource and cost estimates supporting development of product capabilities.
  • Assess emerging products and companies to measure potential value or threat, and recommend new technologies to invest in or leverage.
  • Follow competitors and conduct capability analysis regularly.
  • Provide internal and customer training on how to use the product.
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities.
  • Assess and address technical risks.
  • Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems.
  • Serve as an evangelist and subject matter expert to technical teams.
  • Coordinate beta tests, user testing, and set performance benchmarks.
  • Analyze performance indicators, evaluate experiments, and communicate status.
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of product management experience creating strategic roadmaps and communicating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience driving product vision and design discussions.
  • Experience facilitating and participating in Agile development processes.
  • Experience developing analytics or AI products and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a technology or business‑related field.
