Position: Cable Technician I

Responsibilities & Qualifications

We are seeking a Cable Technician I to join our team supporting DISA JSP ETM in Arlington, VA.

Experience
  • 3+ years of related telecommunications experience
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Cable Technician within the DOD environment
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience
Certifications
  • Related certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation
Clearance
  • Must possess a Secret clearance
Responsibilities
  • Familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards
  • Knowledge in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters
  • Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure
  • Ensure the baseline configuration of all network assets and point‑to‑point circuits, are documented, and configured according to DoD and JSP engineering standards
  • Ensure all systems are properly baselined, tested, and validated in accordance with DISA’s STIG prior to deployment
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of network assets and configurations
  • Use cable testing equipment, such as cable testers, multimeters, and optical power meters
  • Practice cable management techniques to ensure neat and organized cable runs
  • Provide a basic understanding of IP networking concepts, including TCP/IP, subnetting, and VLANs
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, adhering to safety protocols at all times
