The Leo Security team owns the security of product and operations of Amazon Leo end-to-end, providing the infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure the security of our satellite constellation and to protect the integrity and confidentiality of customer data. Our team drives the research & development, deployment and operation of mission-critical security systems and mechanisms. You will work in a start-up like environment, backed by Amazon’s infrastructure to bootstrap security mechanisms and instill the security culture across the organization.

Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen.

• You will collaborate with business leaders to define security priorities and act as a trusted advisor to product leaders, guiding security direction and helping measure security execution.
• You will collaborate with engineers to assess technical debt and risk, providing strategic direction that addresses vulnerabilities and fortifies products, and leading the reduction of long-term risk.
• You will guide engineers toward secure-by-default solutions; where such solutions do not exist, you will invent and propose them.
• You will advocate for the creation and deployment of new testing tools and detection mechanisms.
• You will propose a security vision for the business that protects customers.
• You will explore and work with bleeding-edge technologies.

In this dynamic role, you will decide how to allocate time for maximum value, balancing proactive and reactive work. Teams will seek ideas on a wide range of security problems and you will address questions such as:

• What’s the right way to secure communications in Leo?
• What is the state of the art for cryptographic constructs?
• What are the security requirements for a confidential new product launch?
• How do we perform root-cause analyses to identify and correct incidents?

Amazon Leo Trust Services owns the creation and operation of services to protect customer data and Leo devices. Candidates should have a background in one of the following: PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), HSMs (Hardware Security Modules), Secure Boot, Encryption, Cryptography, Key Management, or Secure Device Provisioning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years delivering security software in a production environment
• 3+ years developing distributed software systems in Java, Rust, Go, or C/C++
• 3+ years of experience in cloud-native environments
• Experience with at least one of PKI, HSMs, Encryption, Cryptography, Key Management, Secure Boot, or Secure Device Provisioning
