About

The Role

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Program Manager to be part of our Advanced Capabilities team and based out of our Arlington, VA location.

The Program Manager will support diverse aspects of leading complex Government projects that support the U.S. Navy and its defense innovation initiatives. These projects specialize in the rapid development, integration and deployment of advanced capabilities aligned to the Aegis Combat System. This PM serves as a liaison between IDT departments ensuring seamless communication and alignment between technical teams, business operations, and Government stakeholders.

This position will support IDT Technical teams in driving rapid development and deployment of advanced capabilities while maintaining alignment with funding requirements, budgets, and compliance standards.

Clearance & Location Requirements
  • All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 3 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location.
What You Will Do
  • Tailor Program Approach: Assign individuals with the appropriate expertise across the program to deliver projects and tasks effectively. Forecast skill gaps and proactively determine strategies to address them. Design and implement scalable processes, tools, and knowledge-sharing mechanisms that promote efficiency and consistency across multiple project life cycles. Identify procurement efficiencies and economies of scale, build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, and apply lessons learned through inspections, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Scope and Align Requirements: Document, prioritize, and validate business and stakeholder requirements based on impact and criticality to desired outcomes. Identify interdependencies, conflicts, and cross-project relationships, assigning requirements appropriately across projects. Ensure requirements and project plans align with program objectives and IDT business goals by conducting quality and alignment reviews and implementing structures that enable coordinated execution across the program.
  • Manage Program Risk and Opportunities: Proactively monitor program complexity, including cross-project dependencies, shifting timelines, resources, and stakeholder needs. Define program risk attitude and appetite, identify risks exceeding tolerance, and recommend response options to leadership. Coordinate risk responses across the program, authorize funding responses, guide project teams in updating baselines, and manage risks and opportunities that impact multiple projects.
  • Assure Quality, Cost, and

    Schedule:

    Be skilled in balancing cost, schedule and performance across multi-million-dollar efforts. Develop and manage Program Quality and Cost Management Plans to ensure consistent standards, financial discipline, and schedule alignment. Integrate individual project schedules into a cohesive program schedule, define interdependencies, anticipate delays, and implement mitigation strategies. Apply cost control techniques, advise teams on financial constraints, and establish performance baselines using meaningful metrics to assess program health and inform decision-making.
  • Drive Integration and Continuous Improvement: Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with strategic goals, business cases, and desired outputs. Evaluate performance against baselines and implement targeted improvement strategies based on root cause analysis, stakeholder input, and best practices. Maintain alignment across all projects within the program and update the business case to capture opportunities and reduce risks as conditions evolve.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or full-time professional experience)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management and development of complex software systems for the DoD.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience managing DOD programs
