Change & Configuration Management Specialist

Full Time Arlington, VA, VA, US

Place of Performance:
National Capital Region (Pentagon and JSP-designated alternate sites)

We are a rapidly growing organization seeking an experienced Change and Configuration Management Specialist to lead and execute the configuration and change management processes for a large, complex DoD enterprise environment supporting the DISA Joint Service Provider (JSP). The successful candidate will ensure all hardware, software, services, and documentation are accurately represented in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and that all changes are processed through the JSP Enterprise Change Management framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, submit, and track approval of change requests through the JSP Configuration Change Control Board (CCB) and CDDOG processes, supporting an average of 300–350 data center change management work orders, moves, adds, and changes per month.
  • Maintain the CMDB and master server lists, capturing asset information, server owner, supported services/applications, IP addresses, URLs, service level, and POC data for all in-scope systems.
  • Document configurations, locations, serial numbers, diagrams, device make/model/type, interfaces, warranty/maintenance information, deployment dates, estimated lifecycle, and required upgrades for all hardware and software assets.
  • Develop and maintain workflow solutions in Microsoft SharePoint to support and continuously improve configuration management processes.
  • Use CM-related tools to perform audits and verify the accuracy of CMDB records on a recurring (at least quarterly) basis and provide CMDB Audit deliverables to the Government.
  • Integrate the configuration management system or its database with other JSP enterprise tools and support a JSP-level enterprise CM solution.
  • Coordinate with the JSP Configuration Change Control Board, Watch Officer, and patching teams to ensure changes are aligned with the approved patching window (daily 2200–0400) and that all impacts are communicated.
  • Ensure system documentation is updated as part of every change and audited annually; produce Visio configuration drawings of data center architecture and update them as the architecture evolves.
  • Apply ITIL-aligned Change, Configuration, and Release Management best practices in accordance with DoD, DISA, and JSP standards.
  • Support the development of metrics and reports on change throughput, change success rate, and CMDB accuracy for monthly IPRs and executive briefings.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in configuration management, change management, or IT service management within a DoD or federal IT environment of similar size and complexity.
  • Hands‑on experience with an enterprise ITSM tool (BMC Remedy/Helix preferred) for managing INC, WO, and CHG records and CMDB content.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Foundation principles; ITIL Foundation certification strongly preferred (required for the Lead variant of this role).
  • Experience producing and maintaining Visio drawings, SharePoint workflows, and CMDB audit reports for a complex enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIGs, and IAVM compliance impacts on configuration baselines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief CCB members and senior Government leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Visio.
Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and five (5) recent years of documented relevant experience.
Clearance Requirement:
  • 100% onsite at a government facility within the National Capital Region (NCR), primarily at the Pentagon, Crystal Gateway, Taylor Building, Mark Center, or other JSP-designated alternate sites. Must be local to the DC Metro Area with reliable transportation.
  • Must comply with all DoD, DISA, and JSP security and access protocols, including the ability to access NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
  • Paid time off and holidays
