Release Engineer
Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI) — a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree is seeking a Release Engineer to join our growing team.
Work Location: Hybrid (on-site in Arlington, VA as scheduled, remaining days remote)
Job Type: Full-time (W2)
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end release management activities across multiple ARTs supporting People Soft HCM and related enterprise systems, including release planning, coordination, scheduling, execution, and post-release follow-through.
- Develop and maintain an integrated release calendar, release milestones, deployment windows, and dependency trackers across application, infrastructure, database, security, testing, and support teams.
- Coordinate release scope, readiness, and sequencing for enhancements, fixes, tax updates, People Tools changes, interfaces, batch processes, security changes, and production support items moving across environments.
- Facilitate release governance activities including release planning meetings, readiness reviews, change control coordination, go/no-go assessments, cutover planning, rollback planning, and stakeholder communications.
- Work closely with product owners, scrum masters, release train engineers, developers, testers, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders to identify dependencies, remove blockers, and ensure release commitments are realistic and traceable.
- Track release risks, issues, decisions, and action items; expedite escalation and drive resolution to protect production stability, schedule adherence, and business continuity.
- Ensure environment readiness and deployment discipline across development, test, staging, and production, including coordination of code migrations, configuration changes, data moves, approvals, and validation activities.
- Develop and maintain release runbooks, checklists, status reporting, release notes, lessons learned, and operational handoff materials to improve repeatability, auditability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in release management, deployment management, or environment coordination for enterprise applications; experience supporting People Soft HCM or similar ERP platforms preferred.
- Hands‑on experience coordinating complex releases across multiple teams or ARTs, including release planning, dependency management, cutover execution, change control, production readiness, and post‑release stabilization.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, testing cycles, migration practices, configuration management, and release governance; experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or similar work tracking and reporting tools preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one; experience supporting federal or other highly regulated environments preferred.
- Familiarity with People Soft HCM release cycles, People Tools updates, PUM image adoption, tax/regulatory changes, interfaces, batch processing, and the operational considerations of enterprise ERP releases.
- Experience supporting SAFe or other scaled agile delivery models, including coordination across multiple ARTs, synchronized planning cadences, release trains, and cross‑team dependency management.
- Knowledge of release runbooks, deployment checklists, go/no‑go criteria, rollback planning, change management, incident management, and production support practices that reduce release risk and improve stability.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, client leadership, and operations personnel, including presentation of release status, readiness, risks, and recommendations.
