Systems Engineer
Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Key Responsibilities- Develop the strategy for growth in key locations for interconnect capacity, including business partnerships and technical approaches to improve resiliency, scalability, cost, and performance.
- Review and select data center architectures and new network designs.
- Create action plans to address short‑term constraints cost‑efficiently and initiate long‑term growth and optimization projects.
- Set future strategies and roadmap for the team across new products, focusing on EMEA.
- Identify priority locations within EMEA to re‑architect existing infrastructure approaches.
- Manage cross‑functional input to inform potential partnerships and build solutions.
- Develop plans of record for scaling and growing infrastructure in different metro areas.
- Set schedules for infrastructure migrations and re‑designs.
- Work with external customers to identify requirements and prospective partnerships to enable new infrastructure launches.
- Improve cost structures for preferred infrastructure architecture.
- 5+ years of program management or technical project management experience.
- 7+ years’ experience driving strategic product or infrastructure decisions.
- 7+ years’ experience in network design, development, or procurement.
- MS, MBA, JD, or other advanced degree.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a business case for new features or geographic expansions.
- Knowledge of network design principles and commercial models around network capacity procurement.
- Experience influencing executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and master new technical subject‑matter.
- Excellent writing ability.
- Experience working with international teams.
Base salary range for this position: USA, VA, Arlington – – USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – – USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance), 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and more.
