Network Engineer, Mid - Air Force On‑Site Support

We are seeking a Network Engineer to provide on‑site network operations, troubleshooting, cybersecurity compliance, and modernization preparation for NIPR and SIPR environments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Tier 2 and 3 network operations and troubleshooting for switches, routers, WLAN controllers, and access points.
  • Analyze packet captures and diagnose performance issues using Wireshark and Solar Winds.
  • Support escalation workflows and assist senior engineers with advanced troubleshooting.
  • Collect and trend baseline network metrics (availability, latency, throughput) to support modernization readiness.
  • Operate and optimize monitoring platforms including Solar Winds, SNMP, syslog, and Net Flow.
  • Lead network health assessments under senior engineer guidance.
  • Implement STIG corrections and support ACAS and SCAP scanning and remediation.
  • Document vulnerability findings and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Execute approved configuration changes, maintain device backups, and follow CM and change‑control procedures.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, device inventories, runbooks, SOPs, and CMDB updates.
  • Assist in DoDAF diagram updates (OV-1, OV-2, SV-1, SV-2).
  • Support cutover readiness, SAT activities, and pre‑modernization cleanup tasks, including field assessments and data collection.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of network engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Wireshark, Solar Winds, and SNMP.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, ARP, HTTP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, QoS.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and DoD security practices.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • HS diploma or GED.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Python and Ansible automation.
  • Experience with SD‑WAN and Aruba or Cisco wireless.
  • Experience with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Network+, CASP+, or CISSP certificates.
Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $ annualized USD.
