The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID offers a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) within JOID provides technical, programmatic, and analytical support to national security customers including the Department of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and the Federal Aviation Administration. CIG staff bring expertise in countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety, and collaborate closely with clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products.

We have a near‑term need for a Senior Modeling and Simulation Analyst to support the United States Coast Guard M&S cell. The primary place of performance is SPA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA, with regular visits to Customer sites in Virginia and Washington, DC.

The Sr. M&S Analyst will apply advanced analytical, modeling, and simulation skills to solve complex war fighting problems in support of the USCG. The role develops software using open‑source tools and computer‑based simulations to meet design requirements and support engagement‑ and mission‑level analyses, wargames, exercises, and experiments across a range of defense problem sets.

• Build and execute analytical models using statistical methods, parametric and non‑parametric techniques, regression analysis, and Operations Research methods to support capability trades, system trades, force structure analysis, and service‑specific studies.
• Coordinate with team members to shape system design, functionality, and analytical approaches.
• Develop mission‑level representations of U.S., allied, and adversary forces executing war fighting concepts of operation.
• Advise operations research analysts, scientists, and engineers on appropriate analytical techniques, modeling approaches, and methods for addressing assigned problem sets.

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Data Science, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Modeling & Simulation experience for N81, USCG, or other military service.
• Experience with one or more of the following tools: STORM, SWIFT, NSS, or AFSIM.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal formats, with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Active Secret clearance.

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• M&S experience supporting USCG.
• Wargaming experience.
