Sr. Compute Solutions Architect, Amazon EC2 Core

Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain‑specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert‑level knowledge to solve. They craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges, guiding customers as they refactor an application or design entirely new cloud‑based systems.

The AWS Compute team was created to make sure customers can deploy the best, most scalable, and most performant architectures possible. The team seeks an experienced Solutions Architect who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for supporting customers across the wide range of EC2 instances. As a Compute Solution Architect you will work with customers globally, partner closely with engineering, business development, and technical field teams to drive adoption of Amazon EC2 Compute resources, develop white papers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations, and help drive enablement initiatives to continually develop the best technical field teams in the industry.

Travel: ~30% travel required.

• Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
• Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain‑aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
• Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public‑speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re:
  
  Invent, etc.
• Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best‑in‑class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
• Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.

• 7+ years of design, implementation, operations or consulting experience with distributed applications.
• Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non‑technical leaders.
• Proficiency with debugging and troubleshooting applications developed in Java, Ruby, Python, C/C++, Go, or Rust and related frameworks.
• Experience deploying and running containers at scale, including orchestration technologies like EKS, ECS, and Karpenter.
• Breadth of expertise deploying multi‑AZ and multi‑region applications on a public cloud provider.

• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
• Experience working within software development or Internet‑related industries.
• AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification, or Associate’s degree or above.

Location:

Arlington, VA, USA – Salary range: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually.
