AWS Global Field Operations (GFO) provides end-to-end support for AWS products and services in non-traditional environments, including Outposts Services. GFO brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to data centers, co-location spaces, customer on-premises facilities, and edge sites. Customers can use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across on-premises and cloud to deliver a consistent hybrid experience.

We are looking for a GFO Technician who is an experienced Data Center Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non-traditional environments. As a GFO technician, you will maintain and operate AWS infrastructure across multiple local and remote locations in the Americas. AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure, including data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to AWS services.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating to uphold high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at lower cost. The role supports an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership.

• Build relationships with internal teams and customers and innovate effective solutions to address issues as they arise.
• Conduct site assessments at various facilities to proactively prepare for onsite installation of AWS equipment.
• Install/expand/provision AWS infrastructure at third-party premises, data centers, or non-traditional environments.
• Troubleshoot network installations and configurations, perform network testing, break/fix, decommissioning, and solve complex problems.
• Proactively identify and implement strategies to prevent issues and enhance the customer experience.
• Conduct day-to-day business internally and with external customers.
• Travel up to 30% on average to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment.
• Physically handle heavy objects (regularly lift up to 18 kg; participate in team lifts of 30 kg).
• May lead or participate in developing SOPs and tools to improve operational efficiency.
• May lead larger projects requiring cross-functional alignment, including large-DC installations and global initiatives, ensuring compliance with global standards.
• May be required to work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure equipment while following health and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a passion for technology and strive for excellence in daily work.

• 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading large, complex programs.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of networking, security, databases (relational or No
  
  SQL), and operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows).

• CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Red Hat), Microsoft hardware installation, AWS or related certifications.
• Experience in a customer-facing environment.
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
• Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts.
