DescriptionSpatial Front, Inc. (SFI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Business Analyst to support a federal government customer in Arlington, Virginia.
This position is designed for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in developing a career in business analysis, information technology, Agile software development, and federal consulting.
The Junior Business Analyst will work with experienced business analysts, project managers, developers, testers, and government stakeholders to help document requirements, support project activities, conduct testing, and maintain project documentation.
SFI will provide training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to help the selected candidate grow into a successful business analyst.
This position requires the employee to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia, five days per week. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.
Business Analysis and Requirements Support- Assist with gathering, analyzing, organizing, and documenting business and system requirements.
- Participate in meetings with customers, end users, developers, testers, and other project stakeholders.
- Document meeting discussions, decisions, action items, risks, and follow-up activities.
- Help translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Assist senior business analysts and product owners with maintaining and refining the product backlog.
- Review requirements and project documentation for completeness, clarity, and consistency.
- Help identify gaps, questions, dependencies, and potential issues related to business requirements.
- Maintain requirements traceability and supporting project documentation.
- Participate in Agile activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint demonstrations, and retrospectives.
- Assist with creating, updating, and tracking user stories, tasks, issues, and action items in Jira or similar tools.
- Support project managers, product owners, and senior business analysts with sprint coordination and project tracking.
- Help prepare project status reports, presentations, meeting materials, and customer deliverables.
- Monitor assigned activities and follow up with team members to support timely completion.
- Assist with tracking risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and project milestones.
- Organize and maintain project information in Confluence, SharePoint, or similar collaboration platforms.
- Assist with reviewing completed system features against documented business and functional requirements.
- Help prepare test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and expected results.
- Participate in functional testing, system testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Document testing results, defects, questions, and requested changes.
- Work with developers and testers to clarify requirements and help resolve identified issues.
- Gather user feedback and communicate findings to the appropriate project team members.
- Communicate professionally with government customers, end users, and project team members.
- Support customer meetings, demonstrations, training sessions, and requirements workshops.
- Help prepare user guides, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials.
- Perform research and analysis to support business and project decisions.
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Perform other business analysis and project support duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- Zero to two years of relevant professional experience.
- Relevant internships, academic projects, military experience, volunteer work, or other practical experience may be considered.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to document information clearly and accurately.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to learn business analysis, Agile practices, software development processes, and federal government operations.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Must be able and willing to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia, five days per week.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Internship or entry-level experience in business analysis, information technology, project coordination, software development, quality assurance, consulting, or customer support.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts.
