We’re looking for engineers who can build and operate resilient cloud systems at the scale of AWS’s dedicated cloud regions. The role focuses on proactive reliability engineering, automation, and applying frontier AI technologies such as Amazon Bedrock to mitigate operational risk and improve performance.
Key Job Responsibilities- Innovate and automate new solutions that reduce repetitive tasks, minimizing manual intervention and cognitive load.
- Expand regional coverage for AWS’s critical services, ensuring continuous availability.
- Conduct deep dives into system and service interdependencies to proactively identify and resolve region‑specific challenges before they impact mission‑critical operations.
- Collaborate with industry‑recognized engineers, fostering continuous learning and contributing to a culture of excellence and reliability.
- Partner with U.S. Intelligence and Defense agencies to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable cloud solutions that support national security missions.
On a typical day you’ll work alongside service engineers to resolve potential issues pre‑emptively, drive automation initiatives, and consult with technical experts. You’ll help build and operate high‑performing systems that reduce operational burden for other Dedicated Cloud teams, continually advancing reliability engineering.
About the TeamThe Region Reliability Engineering & Automation team combines a start‑up mentality with the resources of one of the world’s most advanced cloud organizations. Team members tackle hard problems, grow expertise, and drive a more reliable and resilient future for AWS’s largest government customers.
Basic Qualifications- Associate’s degree or higher, or certifications such as Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.
- 2+ years of systems administration experience (Linux and/or networking).
- Strong debugging and systems analysis skills for rapid issue resolution.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities across applications, networks, and hosts.
- Experience with at least one scripting language.
- Current, active U.S. Government security clearance of TS/SCI with polygraph.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies.
- 3+ years of networking experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting production computing environments.
- Experience automating routine tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
Base salary range: – USD annually (Arlington, VA, USA).
