Position: Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Amazon Leo Security Assurance

Description

Amazon Leo (previously known as Project Kuiper) is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.

Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design and drive scalable processes within a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) framework to ensure compliance with Leo's regulatory and privacy requirements.
  • Build and maintain a global regulatory compliance program covering NIS2, DORA, the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI), the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), and other applicable regulations — including identifying requirements, assessing gaps, developing remediation strategies, and driving remediation activities to completion.
  • Drive regulatory assurance programs by liaising with external regulators and other Amazon security teams, articulating control implementation and impact, and establishing frameworks for applying security and risk concepts within a highly technical and complex environment.
  • Communicate to key stakeholders and leadership on regulatory requirements, compliance program metrics, key risks, and areas for program improvement; proactively seek diverse perspectives and coordinate improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Regulatory, Legal, Security, and Business Development teams to identify future compliance and regulatory requirements and define solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter advisor on regulatory issues, providing guidance to internal teams on compliance obligations and risk management considerations.
  • Understand and manage cross‑functional GRC requirements, translating them into actionable configurations within the GRC tool.
  • Demonstrate comfort with hands‑on, day‑to‑day problem solving and the ability to implement quick, effective action plans to address both short‑ and long‑term priorities.

We provide the necessary infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure the security of our satellite constellation and provide assurance to our customers and regulators on our security, privacy and resiliency programs. Our team drives the implementation of compliance programs, owns the collaboration with external auditors and regulators.

    Basic

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Information Security or other related fields.
    • 6+ years of professional experience in regulatory compliance - designing and implementing NIS2, DORA, GDPR, SOCI and other similar global regulatory and privacy programs.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders.
    • Experience working in highly regulated industry and implementing global regulatory and privacy requirements.
    • Experience working with regulatory agencies and on submissions to regulatory agencies.

    The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
