SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SENIOR EMS System Administrator (Mid-Level) Transform technology into opportunity as a EMS System Administrator with GDIT. In this role, you will support mission-critical enterprise IT systems and contribute to the modernization of agency operations. At GDIT, our people make the difference. As an EMS System Administrator, you will help ensure today's operations remain secure while enabling a smarter tomorrow.
We are seeking a proactive, mid-level Enterprise Management Systems (EMS) Administrator to manage, automate, and optimize our critical infrastructure tools. Unlike traditional maintenance roles, this position requires strong critical thinking, the ability to operate autonomously, and a heavy focus on automating routine tasks using Python and Ansible. You will be instrumental in modernizing our toolsets, reverse-engineering undocumented architectures, and ensuring the high availability of mission-critical identity and access management platforms.
How an EMS System Administrator will make an impact:
The EMS System Administrator plays a critical role in transforming technology into opportunity by supporting and modernizing mission-essential enterprise IT systems. This mid-level technical position is responsible for managing, optimizing, and automating key infrastructure platforms with a strong emphasis on Identity and Access Management (IAM). The role requires deep problem-solving skills, the ability to operate autonomously, and expertise in Python, Ansible, and modern CI/CD automation practices.
As an EMS System Administrator, you will ensure the high availability, secure configuration, and reliable performance of core security systems including Cisco ISE, Aruba Clear Pass, RSA SecurID, and LDAP services. You will also support incident response for critical outages, manage secondary infrastructure tools, and lead efforts to reverse-engineer and document complex, undocumented enterprise environments. Through proactive modernization and automation, you will strengthen operational resilience and contribute directly to the evolution of a smarter, more efficient IT future.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Clearance:
Minimum of an active Secret security clearance. Certification(s):
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II compliance (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
Experience:
5+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure or systems administration, including at least 2-3 years of direct experience managing Linux environments, IAM/NAC tools, and enterprise automation. Technical Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and configuration management (Ansible). Direct experience managing high-availability identity, access, or network access control tools (ISE, Clear Pass, RSA, LDAP). Exceptional critical thinking skills with a proven ability to work independently in environments with limited existing documentation or mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating within Department of War (DoW) STIG compliance and IL5 framework guidelines. Direct experience with Info Blox and Git Lab administration. Prior experience reverse-engineering undocumented infrastructure deployments.
