About The Role:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Cyber Security Development Engineer to be part of our Advanced Capabilities team and based out of our Arlington, VA location.
The Cyber Security Development Engineer is a highly technical role focused on ensuring the security and resilience of our software and systems and will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure systems, applications, and infrastructure to protect against cyber threats. This role blends software development expertise with deep understanding of cybersecurity principles to design, develop, and implement secure solutions for mission-critical environments.

- Workplace type:
Onsite - Compensation: $90,000 - $184,000 / year
- Design, develop, and implement security controls and features within software applications and systems.
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing of software and infrastructure.
- Develop and automate security tools and processes to enhance the software development lifecycle.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Design, implement, and train machine learning models for anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, and proactive threat hunting.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices (Dev Sec Ops ) into the entire software development process.
- Analyze and fortify systems against security threats, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards and requirements.
- Design, implement, and train machine learning models for anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, and proactive threat hunting.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve the security posture of IDT's solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or other STEM field (or equivalent full-time professional experience)
- 3 years of experience in the design, development, and management of complex software systems for the DoD.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as, C++, Java, or Python.
- Advanced knowledge of firewalls, Linux, databases, operating system security, cloud infrastructure, and secure coding practices
- Expertise with security principles such as encryption, authentication, identity management (SSO, MFA, PAM), and secure API design
- Knowledge of common security vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10) and how to prevent them.
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning principles and their application in cybersecurity.
- Hands-on experience with security testing and assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Nmap, Wireshark, Splunk, SCAP, Burp Suite, Metasploit).
- Understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) and Dev Sec Ops practices.
- Master's Degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, CEH, Security+).
- Experience securing containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn).
- Familiarity with AI security and threat landscapes, such as the MITRE ATLAS (Adversarial Threat Landscape for AI Systems) framework.
- Experience securing and deploying AI/ML pipelines within Dev Sec Ops or containerized environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience working with DoD security requirements and STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides).
Pay Range*: $90,000 - $150,000 or $114,000 - $184,000
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
