The Senior Declassification Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing personnel, declassification operations, policy implementation, and interagency coordination supporting classified national security information programs. This role provides leadership for automatic and systematic declassification activities and ensures compliance with Executive Order 13526, Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, and other applicable federal policies governing classified information.
The successful candidate will lead declassification teams, develop and implement policies and procedures, coordinate with federal stakeholders, and ensure declassification activities are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a subject matter expert on declassification operations and national security information management.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage personnel supporting automatic and systematic declassification activities.
- Direct daily operations involving the review, processing, and disposition of classified national security information.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and operational guidance governing declassification programs.
- Ensure compliance with Executive Order 13526, DoD information security regulations, DOE requirements, Atomic Energy Act provisions, and applicable federal directives.
- Provide expertise across all declassification disciplines, including:
- Automatic Declassification
- Systematic Declassification
- Mandatory Declassification Review (MDR)
- Access to Declassified Records (ADR)
- Foreign Relations of the United States (FRUS) reviews
- Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reviews
- Security and Classification Reviews
- Coordinate with DOE, DoD, National Archives, and other federal agencies to facilitate declassification decisions and information‑sharing activities.
- Develop strategies to improve declassification workflows, productivity, and compliance.
- Monitor program performance, staffing, and workload distribution to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and briefings for government leadership and program stakeholders.
- Provide oversight of quality assurance measures and ensure consistency in declassification determinations.
- Advise senior leadership on declassification policy matters, emerging regulatory requirements, and operational risks.
- Support audits, inspections, records management initiatives, and compliance reviews.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience managing personnel
