About the Role

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Procurement Associate to join our Procurement team. The position is based in Arlington, VA.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of equipment, material, services, and products in accordance with established processes, procedures, and CPSR requirements. The role involves working closely with the procurement team and department personnel to ensure the successful execution of purchasing agreements while complying with applicable regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Operations Support Team, Senior Procurement Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute CPSR‑compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, RFPs, bids, and related documents for commodities, equipment, services, or other major items under U.S. Government contracts.
  • Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations, contract law and guidelines, practices, and requirements to assess, plan, establish fair and reasonable pricing documentation, negotiate best terms, and minimize risk.
  • Resolve issues related to pricing, quality, schedule, claims, payment issues, or disputes associated with terms and conditions of purchase orders.
  • Procure material and supplies at competitive prices, considering quality, suitability, time restraints, and long‑term benefits to the company.
  • Expedite POs and properly close out orders on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance as required.
  • Assist in the processing of returned material and follow up to ensure credit invoices are received and applied properly.
  • Serve as the primary contact between IDT program personnel and assigned suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and related procurement documentation.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain both physical and digital records documenting transactions and compliance in accordance with CPSR requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with team members and internal customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Who You Are (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in business or economics, or equivalent professional experience in Procurement (Purchasing or Subcontracts).
  • Minimum three years of experience in a U.S. Government contracting purchasing environment.
  • Experience purchasing under CPSR‑compliant conditions.
  • Experience purchasing in an ISO environment.
  • Knowledge of all FAR regulations and federal laws related to procurement, subcontracting, and contracts.
  • Ability to understand detailed specifications (BOM) for equipment and communicate coherently with operational program personnel.
  • Proficiency with Costpoint.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Ability to draft routine purchasing documents.
  • Ability to learn and grasp purchasing, contracting concepts, regulatory guidance, and emerging technologies quickly.

Pay Range

$72,000 – $114,450 per year. Compensation is dependent on a candidate’s experience, skills, and education; the posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits.
