 GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Under general direction, plans, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the daily
operations of the School Safety Coordinator Program within the Office of Safety,
Security and Emergency Management (SSEM). Provides direct supervision to Lead
Safety Coordinators and operational oversight of School Safety Coordinators
 assigned throughout Arlington Public Schools.

Responsible for personnel accountability, staffing coordination, operational
readiness, training compliance, incident review, and implementation of
departmental initiatives designed to support safe and secure learning
 environments.

Serves as the primary operational liaison between field personnel and
departmental leadership and ensures consistent application of departmental
policies, procedures, operational standards, and performance expectations.
Exercises independent judgment in the supervision of personnel, operational
decision-making, staffing coordination, compliance monitoring, and program
 evaluation.

 SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of
Safety, Security and Emergency Management (SSEM), who establishes departmental
priorities, operational objectives, and performance expectations.

The incumbent exercises independent judgment in supervising Lead Safety
Coordinators, coordinating operational staffing assignments, monitoring
compliance with departmental expectations, conducting operational reviews, and
implementing departmental initiatives. Work is reviewed through operational
outcomes, personnel performance, program effectiveness, and achievement of
 departmental goals.

The Supervisor provides direct supervision of Lead Safety Coordinators and

 DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a management-level position within the Office of Safety, Security and

of the School Safety Coordinator Program.

leadership to assigned School Safety Coordinators, the Supervisor provides
program-wide oversight of personnel accountability, staffing coordination,
operational readiness, training implementation, compliance monitoring, and
 quality assurance activities.

Unlike the Assistant Director, who is responsible for strategic planning, policy

major personnel decisions, the Supervisor is responsible for the implementation,
monitoring, and evaluation of daily program operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed.)

Lead Safety Coordinators. Oversees the daily operation of the School Safety

policies, procedures, standards, certifications, training requirements,
equipment accountability measures, and other program expectations through
audits, inspections, reviews, and quality assurance activities.

with Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), School Security Officer
(SSO), CPR/AED, CPI, and other required certification programs. Reviews
incidents, conducts fact-finding activities, evaluates reports and operational
