Are you passionate about mental health and want to make a difference? Do you enjoy planning and organizing special events? If so, Rock Recovery's Breaking Bread Gala Events Planning Team may be just the fit for you!
DC-based nonprofit, Rock Recovery, provides affordable and accessible eating disorder therapy and support services for teens and adults who struggle with eating disorders.
Each year Rock Recovery hosts its annual Breaking Bread gala in Arlington, VA. This special event is a time where the organization makes space for a vital conversation around mental health and disordered eating, and raises critical funds to carry out our therapy programs so we can change and save more lives. Rock will host its upcoming annual gala for 200+ supporters in early 2027 to help us make this event a success!
VolunteerResponsibilities
Some examples of what you may do as a Breaking Bread event volunteer include:
- Attending monthly virtual planning meetings (December 2026 - March 2027)
- Reaching out to local businesses to help secure special events and items for the event's silent and live auction
- Helping assemble event decor (i.e.
- bid paddles, name cards, auction display frames, etc.) - Assisting with pre-event (decorations, auction, registration, etc.) set up and post-event clean up
- Managing the guest registration process (check in/checkout) using Rock's online auction planning platform
Volunteers are a core part of the event planning process and are needed for on-the-ground support the night of the event, roughly from 3 pm to 9 PM. The Rock staff provides thorough instruction and training prior to the event in volunteer meetings.
Time commitment: 3 - 4 hours of training (monthly), 1 hour per month auction outreach (December - March) , 6-8 hours of in-person event support on March 9th

Rock Recovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the journey to freedom from disordered eating through holistic and accessible recovery programming, nationwide faith support services and community education and empowerment.
