The Bill of Rights Institute is seeking a Director of Development, a politically savvy, nonpartisan professional with a proven track record of cultivating partnerships across the for-profit and nonprofit sectors and turning opportunities into results.

To succeed as the Director of Development, you should have:

  • Proven experience securing major gifts, grants, or corporate philanthropy support through donor cultivation and relationship management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM and collaboration tools such as Salesforce, , and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experienced fundraising professional with a results-driven approach and the ability to attract new investors.
  • Although this is a hybrid role, it is not a remote position so must be commuting distance of Arlington, VA.

Your responsibilities as the Director of Development will include:

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure funding from individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Build and maintain a diverse network of donors, sponsors, and strategic partners aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team and internal partners to develop and execute donor engagement strategies.
  • Manage donor communications, track fundraising activities, and provide timely updates using Salesforce and other tools.
  • Leverage the organization's reputation to expand philanthropic investment and achieve fundraising goals.
