Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part‑Time Clinical Instructors to teach students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program located in the Arlington, VA area.

You will mentor students in person at an inpatient clinical setting, connecting classroom concepts and simulations with real‑world patient care, ensuring students are well prepared and confident as future healthcare professionals.

Candidates with a completed MSN are encouraged to apply – teaching experience is not required.

Clinical Specializations
  • Mental Health/Psych Nursing
    Students demonstrate nursing skills and procedures in an inpatient setting, focusing on individual functioning in society and mental health conditions such as anxiety, self‑concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, abuse, and violence issues.
  • Pediatric Nursing
    Students demonstrate nursing skills and procedures in an inpatient setting, with family‑centered care of children from infancy through adolescence, addressing normal childcare and health alterations.
  • Maternal/OB Nursing
    Students demonstrate nursing skills in an inpatient Labor & Delivery unit, emphasizing family‑centered maternal and newborn care, health promotion, wellness, and managing complications.
  • Complex Adult Health Critical Care
    Students demonstrate nursing skills in an inpatient setting by integrating nursing, technology, and scientific knowledge to manage unstable and emergent critical illnesses in a diverse patient population.
  • Community Public Health Nursing
    Students demonstrate nursing skills in an outpatient setting, partnering with the community to shape conditions supportive of health through the nursing process.
  • Capstone Final Clinical
    Students experience the final clinical before graduation, exploring professional nursing trends, participating in experiential learning, and refining skills within legal, ethical, and evidence‑based practice.
Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
    • Implement the college’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
    • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
    • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Student Evaluation and Support
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students’ knowledge base, skill competency, and learning needs.
    • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives.
    • Be available for remediation as required.
    • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Clinical Coordination
    • Orient and maintain current knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance of site personnel.
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students’ knowledge base, skill competency, and learning needs.
    • Maintain visibility while staying available to staff and students at the clinical site.
