Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Behavioral Health

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (NO WEEKENDS!!)

Start Date:

July 27th

Pay Rate (Local): $55/hour Pay Rate (Travel, over 50 miles from the facility): $2,500 weekly Contract

Length: 26 weeks (6 months with an extension)
** WEEKLY PAYCHECKS EVERY FRIDAY!!**

Position Overview:

This role is ideal for an experienced Psychiatric RN with a background in behavioral health, crisis stabilization, or high-security/structured healthcare environments. Working within a correctional facility in Arlington, VA, you will provide psychiatric nursing care to an incarcerated population, support mental-health stabilization, and collaborate closely with custody staff and clinical teams to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact)
• Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, crisis care, or corrections
• Strong assessment, de-escalation, and therapeutic communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a secure, structured environment
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities

• Provide daily psychiatric nursing care within the correctional behavioral-health unit
• Conduct mental-health assessments, suicide risk evaluations, and ongoing monitoring
• Administer medications safely, including psychotropic and PRN medications
• Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety protocols
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and security procedures
• Collaborate with correctional officers, psychiatrists, social workers, and medical staff
• Document assessments, interventions, care plans, and incident reports accurately
• Participate in treatment-team meetings and contribute to individualized care plans
