American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR nursing experience.
Details- Work in the Operating Room department of a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule with 4x10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- 1:1 patient ratio
- On-call responsibilities required for some areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab, requiring proximity within 30 miles or 30 minutes of campus
- Floating required in rotation with client staff per hospital policy and Joint Commission standards
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Two weeks off between contract extensions
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS and CNOR preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with a variety of surgical specialties preferred, including gynecology, plastics, podiatry, orthopedics, general surgery, endoscopic procedures, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT
- Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris equipment preferred
- Facility is smoke and nicotine free
- Modules are completed during orientation, non-billable, and may take up to 7 hours depending on specialty
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless a qualifying exemption is granted
- COVID-19 vaccination or qualifying exemption required
- Requests for time off should be kept to a minimum and included at time of consideration, with approval at manager discretion
- Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not typically considered given the 2 years of prior OR RN experience requirement
