Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Join Our Family: Part-Time Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Since 2000, Fur-Get Me Not has been more than just a pet care provider—we’re a family. Our mission is simple: we help pets enrich, play, and thrive. We aren’t an app or a tech platform; we are a local, all-employee small business that has been a staple of the community for over 25 years. We’re looking for compassionate, reliable animal lovers who put pet well-being first and want to build lasting relationships with our customers.

The Role:

Professional Caretaker

This is a part-time position designed for those looking to supplement their income while staying active and outdoors. This role pairs perfectly with other responsibilities such as:

  • College coursework
  • School-age children’s schedules
  • Freelance careers or part time work outside 9am-5pm hours
What You’ll Do:
  • One-on-One Walks: Provide focused, midday visits for dogs (10am-4pm, weekdays). We only walk one household at a time.
  • Pet Sitting: Visit dogs, cats, and other small animals in their homes (mornings, evenings, and weekends) when their families are away.
  • Safety & Well-being: Use professional handling techniques to ensure every pet is safe, happy, and prioritized.
  • Customer Connection: Write detailed, professional journals after each visit to share the joy of the day with pet parents.
  • Reliability: Navigating your local route (rain or shine!) to ensure customer expected time frames are kept.
Why Join Us? (The Fur-Get Me Not Difference)

We are a team. When you join us, you aren't an independent contractor—you are a valued member of our family.

  • Team Support: You have on-call support and local management—you are never truly alone in the field.
  • Animal-Centric Culture: You’ll be surrounded by teammates who share your passion for animals.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We work to fill the availability you provide us.
  • Growth & Learning: We offer paid initial training and continued education on animal behavior and learning theory.
  • Financial Protection: We handle all your payroll taxes and provide Workers’ Compensation Insurance.
Benefits & Perks:
  • Employee Discounts: Discounts on pet sitting, dog daycare, dog training.
  • Annual Increases: Your per-visit pay increases every year on your anniversary.
  • Casual Dress Code: Be comfortable, be yourself, and be outside.
  • Additional Income Opportunities: You keep 100% of tips earned and can earn holiday pay
  • 401(k) Match: Available after 1,000 hours of work in a year.
What You’ll Need:
  • A Heart for Animals: Their well-being is our #1 priority.
  • Consistency: A block of at least 2-3 hours of consistent availability between 10am-4pm on weekdays (for dog walkers). Pet Sitters have more flexibility.
  • Proximity: Residents of Arlington, Alexandria, or Falls Church are preferred; we aim to keep your route within a 5-mile radius of your home.
  • Logistics: A reliable car preferred, though bikes/scooters work in many neighborhoods
  • Minimum age:18
Love of the Outdoors:

Willing to walk in all weather conditions.
