About the RoleWe are currently looking for a Research Manager to join NPA Polling, a public opinion research firm conducting survey research, focus groups and data analytics for political and corporate clients nationwide. The Research Manager is expected to have significant experience in survey and market research, data analysis and a strong interest in Republican politics - previous campaign or public policy experience strongly preferred.
This individual will independently own projects from kickoff through final deliverable, serve as a day-to-day client contact, and manage and mentor junior team members. The Research Manager will work closely with the Polling & Data Analytics Director on research design, methodology and final strategic interpretation.
- Owning day-to-day project management, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, staffing and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time and within scope
- Leading the development of survey questionnaires and qualitative discussion guides, ensuring instruments align with client objectives and methodological best practices
- Overseeing survey programming, testing and fielding, including managing quotas, reviewing data quality, coordinating weighting with senior research leadership and ensuring approved methodological decisions are implemented correctly
- Directing quality control processes and establishing QA standards for the team's data and deliverables
- Authoring reports, memos and presentations that tell the story of the data through thoughtful analyses and strategic insights, and presenting findings directly to clients
- Managing, training and mentoring analyst-level staff, including reviewing their work and supporting their professional development
- Supporting new business development, including contributing to proposals, methodology recommendations and pricing
- Leading specialized research projects as requested
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Political Science, Market Research, Marketing, Public Policy or related field; advanced degree a plus
- 3-5 years of professional experience in political campaigns and/or public opinion, political, market, consumer or social research, with demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish; political or public policy experience strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, including experience presenting to and advising clients and senior leaders
- Proven project management ability: strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, ensures team accountability, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Proficiency with MS Office, especially PowerPoint, statistical programming (SPSS preferred), and applied experience with regressions, cluster/factor analysis, segmentation or other methods
- Experience supervising, delegating to or mentoring junior staff
- Focus group moderation or other qualitative research experience
- Social listening and online conversation analysis
- Working knowledge of statistical programs such as Alteryx, R or Python
- Proficiency in programs such as Tableau or PowerBI
- Experience contributing to proposals, RFP responses or new business development
