Description

Washington Golf and Country Club (WGCC) is a premier private club dedicated to exceptional service, quality dining, and a positive team culture. We are seeking an experienced and service-driven Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and beverage program.

The Bar Manager will effectively supervise and manage all bar operations for the downstairs dining area of the clubhouse; specifically, the Grille, Tap Room, Gentleman’s Lounge, and Tiki Bar. Developing a team of bartenders that can deliver accurate and consistent mixed and poured beverages, speed of service, and an elevated presentation expected of Washington Golf and Country Club. Designing a training plan to uphold staff presentation, control beverage pours for responsible alcohol service, standardize knowledge of basic mixed drinks and menu items, and understand expectations of bar cleanliness.

Ordering all liquor, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages and maintaining inventory for said products.

Responsibilities

Responsible for:

Bar Staff for the Grille, Tap Room, Tiki Bar, and Gentleman’s Lounge (including but not limited to any bartender, barback, food runner, or busser supporting members at the four downstairs bars)

Core Duties
  • Procurement of all liquor, beer, and N/A beverages
  • Inventory for all beverages and related products served at the downstairs bars
  • Training of all bar staff
  • Maintain a strong floor presence during peak dining periods
  • Supervision of service for the veranda (i.e. “rockers”)
  • Creation of seasonal or specialty cocktail menus
  • Designing weekly bartender schedules
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations for Grille, Tap Room, Gentleman’s Lounge, Tiki Bar, and Veranda
  • Collaborate with the Director of Food and Beverage and Grille Manager to implement and maintain service standards for bar staff
  • Assist Banquet Managers in providing necessary beverage supplies for event bartenders before events
  • Identify operational challenges and propose actionable solutions to enhance member experiences.
  • Lead and motivate bar staff through clear communication, training, and accountability
  • Ensure efficient scheduling for bar staff, labor management, and inventory control
  • Support in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
Requirements
  • 3+ years of bar management or hospitality leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and responsible service
  • Proven leadership, organization, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Private club or upscale hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of overall bar operations
  • Excellent communication, organization, attention to detail, and time management
  • Comfortable working with private membership, serving the same individuals and their families multiple times per week
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify a need before being asked
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs; manual dexterity for drink prep, garnishing, carrying, and bending
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and exterior conditions and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
  • Must be able to work in close proximity to moving machinery
  • Independent mobility
