Senior Account Manager, Strategic Accounts

Responsibilities- Build and execute strategic account plans focused on retention, upsell, and long‑term expansion.
- Lead high‑impact conversations—both virtual and in‑person—with stakeholders across customer organizations, from daily users to senior executives.
- Identify opportunities for cross‑sell and product adoption (POLITICO Pro US, Pro Europe, and E&E News).
- Build cross‑functional partnerships to advance strategic initiatives, resolve complex account issues, and ensure alignment with evolving product and market priorities.
- Develop and lead de‑risking strategies to protect revenue and strengthen client value ahead of potential contractions or churn.
- Partner with Customer Success to align on delivery strategy and deepen customer value.
- Leverage insights from usage, account health, and industry trends to recommend relevant solutions.
- Drive renewals with a focus on longer‑term contracts and YoY growth targets.
- Represent POLITICO with credibility and empathy, serving as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders.
- Log activity and maintain pipeline hygiene in Salesforce, sharing updates with leadership as needed.
- 5–8+ years of experience in account management, client success, or consultative sales.
- Proven track record of growing accounts through renewals, upsell, and cross‑sell.
- Experience successfully working cross‑functionally with a Customer Success team to deliver client outcomes.
- Comfort navigating complex organizations and building relationships across all levels of seniority.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- High business and sales acumen—you know how to connect policy impact to business needs.
- Strategic mindset, able to think beyond one transaction to grow long‑term account value.
- Growth mindset—you believe we all have room to improve, and you value ongoing coaching and development.
- Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
